Each day, the downtown Cumberland area looks more complete as sidewalks are bricked and light poles and plants are installed. Recently, Mayor Ray Morriss talked to WCBC about how the new streetscape opens up views of the buildings in downtown, a view that residents may take for granted, but the architecture is a delight for visitors to the area…
“When you look at our downtown area and you look at the architecture that’s there, it really is amazing and sometimes people who aren’t from here – when they walk in, and they see it, they’re like, ‘wow, this is really cool.’” Sometimes when you see it every day, maybe you lose a little bit of your appreciation for it. I’m hoping that people will bring that back and understand what a beautiful downtown business district we have.”
