After being suspended for most of this year- it appears Christopher Biggs will soon be officially out as Allegany County’s Department of Emergency Services EMS chief. Biggs was appointed to the post in 2019 and has since experienced a myriad of problems including his alleged involvement in a major deer poaching case in West Virginia; and accusations from EMS union representatives of “questionable integrity”. Shortly after news of the deer poaching case broke in January, county officials issued a statement announcing that Biggs was suspended from his job for an “alleged violation of law”. While not at liberty to divulge much information given that is a personnel matter, County Commissioner David Caporale did confirm to WCBC News that a final resolution is close at hand…
When asked if that resolution would likely lead to a new EMS chief, Caporale said “yes”. Lt. Michael Salvadge has been serving as acting EMS chief since Bigg’s suspension and could be the likely choice to fill the role on a permanent basis.
