On Sunday, January 26th, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department arrested Shayna Cherry Fitzwater, 24, of Cumberland MD. Fitzwater was arrested on an active Parole Retake Warrant issued by the Maryland Parole Commission on January 14th, 2025. The warrant alleges Fitzwater violated the terms and conditions of parole that had been placed upon her that stemmed from a previous conviction on charges of escape and assault. She was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where she was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. She is currently being held without bond.
On Sunday, January 26th, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department served a Criminal Summons on Michael William Salmon, 32, of Cumberland MD. The summons was in reference to an incident that occurred on January 25th, 2025. During that incident, it is alleged that Salmon provided officers with a false name in an attempt to avoid arrest due to having an active warrant for his arrest. On this date, Salmon was served the summons and released, pending trial in District Court.
On Sunday, January 26th, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department responded to a property in the 400 block of Baltimore Ave for a trespassing complaint. Upon arrival, two subjects were located at the property that had previously been posted as “unfit for human habitation”. As a result, Jacob Allen Baker, 36, and David Allen Bennett, 50, both of Cumberland MD, were both placed under arrest. They were both issued Criminal Citations for trespassing and released, pending trial in District Court.
On Sunday, January 26th, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of First St at Jane Frazier Village for the report of a disturbance. Once on scene, Officers were directed towards a male subject who allegedly tried to assault multiple victims with brass knuckles. Officers then approached the subject, Alan Kareem Young, 42, of Cumberland MD, and detained him after a brief struggle. The investigation revealed that Young had been in the company of the victims prior to the incident. When one of the victims discovered that Young had stolen a set of car keys, an argument ensued. Young then produced a set of brass knuckles and attempted to assault the subjects who had to flee from Young. As a result, Young was placed under arrest and transported to Police headquarters for processing. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond.
