Allegany College of Maryland is hosting an open house for prospective nursing students at its Garrett County Nursing program site on Pythian Avenue in Oakland this Saturday from 11am till 2 pm. Allegany College and Garrett Regional Medical Center have partnered with WVU Medicine’s Aspiring Nurse Program. ACM spokesperson Kristin Kerwald says the program is unique to the area…
“The program allows students attending our ACM Garrett County nursing site to secure financial assistance and meaningful employment in their field at Greater Regional Medical Center following graduation. The program provides students with direct financial assistance in return for a three-year commitment working as a nurse at a hospital in the WVU system.”
Kerwald adds that the program helps to fulfill a shortage of nurses in more remote communities…
“With the demand for nurses, especially in rural areas, we see this partnership with the Aspiring Nurse program as an excellent opportunity to support both our health systems, hospitals, and our students.”
