Aberdeen Man Arrested After High Speed Chase

November 11th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

On Monday November 11, 2024 an Allegany County Sheriff’s Deputy was traveling west on National Highway between Lavale and Frostburg when he observed a sedan traveling above the speed limit back towards Lavale. The Deputy activated their emergency equipment and began to turn around to perform a traffic stop on the speeding vehicle, however, the driver took off at a high rate of speed. Before the Deputy could catch up to the speeding vehicle, it lost control and crossed the double yellow line striking another vehicle. The speeding vehicle then continued further into Lavale before striking a curb and sliding through the parking lot of a business after losing all of its tires. The Deputy was able to make contact with the driver of the speeding vehicle as he was trying to get out of his vehicle and successfully take him into custody.

As a result of the investigation, 19 year old Joshua Fullwood of Aberdeen, MD was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment along with numerous traffic charges. The roadway was partially closed while vehicles were towed from the scene and the roadway was cleaned.

The Allegany County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Maryland State Police, Maryland Fire Marshal's Office, Lavale Rescue Squad, Allegany County EMS, and Lavale Fire Department.
