Triple-A is reminding drivers that from October through December, deer are more active during mating and hunting season and are more likely to dart into the road, increasing the risk of a potentially deadly collision. While the majority of deer strikes do not involve serious injury, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says almost 1,900 people nationwide were killed in crashes involving animal strikes between 2013 and 2022. Drivers should be attentive especially in early morning and evening hours when deer are most active.
