November 16th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

Local historian and LaVale Lion, Al Feldstein has been on hand to photograph and document many events throughout the region, large and small. Al was on hand for the festivities in downtown Cumberland this week and shared this photo he had taken of the groundbreaking events in 1978 along Baltimore Street as it was being closed to become a pedestrian mall. Mr. Giatras, Gino's dad is under the umbrella to the right that rainy day. His son, Gino Giatras of Curtis' Coney Island Famous Weiners on North Liberty Street,  was also on hand for the street reopening Wednesday, being the first to legally drive on to Baltimore Street and doing so in style in a blue hot rod.
