Many Marylanders will mark the 19th anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 on Friday.
Harford County Executive Barry Glassman is inviting all county residents to join in a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. in a gathering of county employees outside of the county administrative building on Main Street in Bel Air.
Howard County Executive Calvin Ball will be joined by members of the county police and fire departments and sheriff's office at 8:46 a.m. at Centennial Park's Garden of Hope in Ellicott City. They plan to honor and pay tribute to all who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks. This will include four victims from Howard County. A remembrance wreath will be laid during a flag-raising ceremony.
Wreaths Across America is inviting all Americans to stand outside and wave a flag for one minute at 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m., and 10:03 a.m. Those are the times of each attack.
President Donald Trump and Democratic challenger former Vice President Joe Biden both plan to visit the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania today, though not at the same time.
