A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advisory panel is recommending the agency add the COVID-19 vaccine to the routine vaccination schedule for children. It isn't a done deal yet as the director of the CDC still has to sign off on it and there are still details that need to be worked out. A spokesman said that it's not going to be a mandate or requirement but it will be similar to what the recommendation is for influenza The possibility of a COVID vaccine mandate for public school children was asked of the candidates running for a seat on the Allegany County Board of Education. Candidate Linda Widmyer said she strongly opposed the idea; while candidate Meggin Miller said while she is an advocate of getting the COVID vaccination, noting that her entire family has been vaxed and boostered, she would hesitate to support a mandate.
