A walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held in Mt. Savage on Thursday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Mt. Savage Fire Company. The vaccine that will be given at Thursday’s clinic will be the Moderna COVID vaccine.
On Friday, May 7, individuals specifically wanting the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine will be able to get vaccinated at the Allegany Fairgrounds Multipurpose Building, where both Moderna and J&J COVID vaccines will be available. The fairgrounds walk-in clinic will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.
Both walk-in clinics are open to any Allegany County adult age 18 or older, no appointment necessary.
The Allegany County Health Department reports that 22,893 Allegany County residents have received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine against COVID-19 (32.5% of the population), with 18,192 of those individuals now fully vaccinated with their second dose (25.8 % of the population). The number of residents who have received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine is 2,166 (3.1 %).
By comparison, the state reported that 46.5% of all Marylanders had received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine, with 33.0% having had both doses and 3.2% vaccinated with the single dose vaccine.
