The first large snow event is making its way through the region with Winter Storm Warnings posted for Garrett County starting at 10am this morning through midnight Friday. Heavy snow is expected with total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches, with 12 to 18 inches possible along the ridgetops. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph Friday afternoon into Friday night. For those traveling, dial 511 to check on road conditions before setting out. In Allegany County, it should be more of a rain event with a rain/snow mix Thursday and Friday before temperatures reach almost 50 on Saturday. WCBC is your Snow Watch station on-air and online.
