Searching for unclaimed property in West Virginia will be easier with the launch of a simplified web URL – WVUnclaimedproperty.com – the site address was updated from an older URL that was difficult to remember. West Virginia currently has $300 million dollars in unclaimed property including financial accounts, life insurance benefits, safe deposit boxes, and unused rebate cards. It does not include real estate property. For the month of March, West Virginia has returned more than $2.5 million dollars worth of funds to individuals and businesses. The state has sent out $19.1 million dollars to citizens so far this fiscal year in unclaimed property returns.
