April 17th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

U.S. Rep. Riley Moore, R-W.Va., wants to add a new holiday to the calendar.  The freshman congressman has joined Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., in an effort to make Easter Monday, the Monday directly following Easter Sunday, a federal holiday.  If the bill becomes law, Easter Monday would be the 12th annual holiday recognized by the federal government, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. The others are: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King’s Birthday, Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth National Independence Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans’ Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
