Garrett County Public Schools issued a statement regarding the highly successful girls basketball team at Southern.  The statement follows:  It has come to the attention of GCPS that the Southern High School (SHS) Lady Rams basketball team was in violation of a local policy concerning practicing during the 2024-25 school year. As a result of this violation, appropriate disciplinary action has been imposed. It is important to clarify that this was a violation of county policy and not an MPSSAA violation. Since this is a personnel matter, no further information will be made available.
