During last night’s Cumberland Mayor and City Council meeting, Merje Design presented another signage design for the City’s Wayfinding Project.  They also started discussing how to implement the signs throughout the City.  Glenn Swantak with Merje said a good way to layout the signage is to direct by districts…

“You want to direct not to everything from everywhere, but a good way to do it is to direct to a district, and then direct to those destinations that are within that district.  So, we’re trying to break that up and understand where those opportunities are to announce that you have arrived into an area, district, or neighborhood.”

Merje designer Madison Phillips suggested focusing on parking signage in phase one…

“Getting people from the highway to parking and once they get out of their car then you can start to implement those other signs.  So, kind of working your way out and in.”
