McKay Sponsors Bill Offering Second Chances

February 11th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

State Senator Mike McKay is sponsoring Senate Bill 398 in Annapolis.  Last week McKay testified in the Judicial Proceedings Committee and he outlined the need for second chances for people who violate the law.  After three years, those with misdemeanors would have their records cleared automatically.  McKay noted that in his own business, he has hired people with prior convictions.  Most notable was the hiring of Arthur Bremer, who had been imprisoned for shooting Alabama Governor George Wallace in 1972 in Laurel, MD.
