President-Elect Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency, headed by Elon Musk has its sights set on reducing the number of employees in the federal government. For Maryland, that would be a huge hit, according to Republican State Senator Mike McKay. He says about 8% of the state’s residents are federal workers and cuts to that workforce would make Maryland’s financial outlook even less promising…
“What is going to be an interesting thing is Maryland always relies on the Federal Government and there’s about 160,000 federal jobs in Maryland so it’s going to see how the administration does with the federal government. But at the end of the day, the revenues look bleak and it’s going to be really, really tough in the out years.”
