Little strips of blue tape litter the sidewalks of the new downtown Cumberland, marking places where new bricks that have been laid are chipped or cracked. Mayor Ray Morriss says the City has been doing an inspection of the area and the bricks will be replaced by the contractor before the City takes delivery of the project…
“You gotta realize a lot of work has been done since those bricks were initially put down, so they were probably fine two months ago. But because of the equipment that’s been down there operating, there’s been some slight damage to them. You know, once the construction period is gone and the equipment’s not there on the sidewalks as it has been, you won’t get that sort of damage.”
