Marylanders Cutting Basics to Pay Utility Bills

A recent study by Lending Tree says that almost 30% of Maryland residents have reduced their basic expenses in order to afford rising electricity costs. The study showed many sacrifice necessities including medicine and food and that 21% of residents often keep their homes at unsafe temperatures to avoid high utility bills. Nationwide, Americans spent an average of $185.50 on electricity bills in August of this year. 23% found they were unable to pay an energy bill in full.
