Count Maryland’s Lt Governor Boyd Rutherford among those who is happy to see the latest effort to legalize recreational marijuana fail in the General Assembly. Lawmakers who hoped to see the bill pass this year are giving up on the effort as the General Assembly's 2021 session draws to a close. They hope to pass a bill in 2022. Legislation in the House and Senate that would have created a legal marijuana industry will not make it out of committee this session according to Senator Brian Feldman, a Montgomery County Democrat, who sponsored the Senate legislation.
