On Sunday evening, 02/16/2020, at 9:43 PM, three suspects entered the Dollar General store on Nave's Crossroads. One suspect was armed with a long gun and the other two suspects were armed with handguns.
One suspect approached store employees, threatened them with the handgun, and demanded money while one of the other suspects rounded up the only two customers in the store and brought them to the front counter. The employees complied with the suspects' demands and provided them with an undisclosed sum of cash.
The suspects also demanded one employee's car keys. As they fled the store the suspects attempted to start the employee's car to steal it, but were unable to get the car started. The suspects then fled across Nave's Crossroads to the carwash located there. They located a subject there washing his vehicle. At gunpoint the suspects forced the victim into his own vehicle and had him drive them to Shade's Lane, and back in towards Cumberland. They directed him to the area near the intersection of James Day Drive and Marion Street where they exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
The suspects were described as black males, wearing hoodies, and bandanas on their faces to try to conceal their facial features.
The Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene, and with the assistance of the Cumberland Police, conducted a search for the suspects, but were unable to locate them at that time.
Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) also responded to assist in the investigation. Investigators are reviewing video surveillance and interviewing potential witnesses in an attempt to identify the suspects.
The crime scene, and related items, were processed by Evidence Collection Technicians with the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division.

These crime reports devote a remarkable amount of coverage to folks that our local leaders tell us are less than 7% of the local population and that we should glorify. Seems fishy to me.
