Distracted Driver Awareness

April 17th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

April is National Distracted Driving Awareness month. More than 3,000 people every year across the country lose their lives in what are reported as distracted driving crashes. Both Maryland and West Virginia are reminding drivers to have a designated texter while behind the wheel. Lori Weaver-Hawkins of AAA says distracted driving is as dangerous as impaired driving, even if you’re stopped at a light…

“If you are sending a text or using your phone in any way at a stoplight, you are mentally still distracted another 30 seconds at least down the road after you finish that text or call.”
