On Monday, October 21 at approximately 17:39 hours, Allegany County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to Oldtown Road near Helena Drive for a reported three-vehicle crash. Rescue units advised one male was entrapped and unconscious but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The operator of the vehicle was identified as William Ray Ritchie, 74 years of age, and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The roadway remailed closed for several hours while the crash team investigators from the Cumberland Police Department and the Allegany County Sheriff's Office investigated. Speed was a determining factor in the crash.
