The West Virginia Division of Highways and the Federal Highway Administration will hold a public information session and hearing on the proposed Wardensville-to-Virginia state line section of Corridor H on Tuesday, April 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. at East Hardy High School in Baker. Opponents of the project have raised concerns about its necessity, citing low traffic levels on existing sections and the lack of plans by Virginia to extend the four-lane highway east of the state line along Route 55 to interstates 66 and 81. The West Virginia Division of Highways estimates the cost of constructing the Wardensville-to-Virginia section, along with the pending Parsons-to-Davis section in Tucker County, at approximately $1.5 billion.
