April 24th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

Saturday at 2pm, Civil War history buffs can gather at the Pollock Cemetery off of River Road in Mexico Farms for a special ceremony to honor National Confederate History Month. Conducted by the Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization, the program will include a history reading and tour of the cemetery that the group adopted in 2001. CHCO President Ed Taylor says two of the Pollocks were actively involved in the Civil War…

“James Pollock who was a Corporal in the 7th Virginia Cavalry, and he was captured at the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863. His sister is one of the five female Confederate spies during the war, Sally Pollock. And for many, many years her grave was unmarked and in 2004, we put a wonderful monument up that tells her entire story.”
