In the latest of a new series of reports, the State Comptroller’s Office is looking at the costs of climate change in Maryland. The state has spent over $20 billion dollars covering damage in the last 20 years from extreme weather events. Comptroller Brooke Lierman says it is costly not to act and imperative to invest in strategies that increase the state’s climate resilience…
“And while we don’t yet know the total cost of inaction, we do know the consequences. Economic instability, widening health disparities, irreversible environmental damage.”
