Citizens Voice Issues At BelAir Water Presser

April 1st, 2025 by WCBC Radio

A full house at the Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Department last night participated in a special press conference held for residents of Bel Air, Glen Oaks, Pinto, and Highland Estates to share their frustration with increasingly high water bills from the Maryland Water Service.  Jenn Jeudy had a spreadsheet prepared with a rundown of monthly water bills received by some residents…

“The highest was $900. Behind that was $768 I believe, $569, $397, $410. The average was between $250 and $350.”

The Bel Air Citizens committee is asking for a joint meeting with local, state, and federal officials to determine a path forward on the issue. One resident, who identified herself as Gail, said she had enough and was leaving Bel Air…

“I am going to sell my house because I can’t afford to be there anymore. And I’m going to the laundromat, and I’m not flushing the commode every time and I’m not running my water when I don’t have to – it comes on and goes immediately off. My bill, I’ve gotten it down to $124. But I’m on Social Security and I just can’t afford the prices going up and up and up and so I am selling my house now.”
