Allegany County Tourism Director Ashli Workman knows hikers and bikers on the C&O Canal are not always aware of which county they are traveling through or the opportunities around them. Now, the destination marketing organizations form Allegany, Washington, Frederick, and Montgomery counties have joined forces for a campaign called “Let’s Go! C&O – Beyond the Canal.” Workman says the plan is to make tourists aware of what is worth exploring off the towpath…

  

“Our job as destination marketing organizations is to think like a visitor, speak to a visitor, and we thought, you know what, we need to work together, and we need to sell this attraction as not only this great trail system and National Park, but all the things you can do off the trail.”
