One of first bills Governor Moore signed into law this week was one designed to assist federal workers in Maryland impacted by mass layoffs and firings. In March, the Department of Labor Jobs report showed the state had lost 2,700 federal government jobs. Senate President Bill Ferguson says the loan program is needed to help those suddenly out of work…

“What we didn’t anticipate was the extent of what we were seeing at the federal level and how that would impact Maryland in such a dramatic way. And protecting federal workers who are more afraid than they have ever been at a time when the State of Maryland, as Moody’s has reported, is at the greatest risk it has ever been.”
