WCBC has learned that CSX is making an investment of between $32 and $40 million dollars to re-install and upgrade the "hump" faciility in the Cumberland train yard. The Hump was removed in 2017 under than CSX Chief Hunter Harrison who wanted to use the concept of precision railroading in building trains. That has cost CSX across the country millions of dollards and several other yards are also abandoning the idea. Sources tell WCBC that plans are to remove the exisiting hump terminal and install new switching capabilities allowing more cars to be trafficked through the yard. Senator Mike McKay has heard the rumors but not received anything official yet.
