Allegany County Animal Shelter Under Fire

January 12th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

In a marathon first meeting of the new year of the Allegany County Animal Control Board- management of the Animal Shelter came under fire from both board members, volunteers and the general public. For close to two and a half hours, often times emotional debate dominated the session- with accusations ranging from a lack of leadership; volunteers not addressing tasks that they had signed up for; a lack of accountability; poor management; and unsanitary, unhealthy conditions at the shelter. Several members complained of volunteers being critical of other volunteers and board members via posts on “Facebook”.  Dianne Care who runs the local Ark of Hope Rescue for animals in Oldtown blasted Shelter Manager Carl Brubaker for allowing the shelter to operate in such a disorganized, unsanitary manner…

I hope that our goal here remains the animals and that the shelter remains a no kill shelter.
I would like to question Ms McDaniel and Ms Care as to how much time they volunteer at the shelter, how much money do they donate to help with the expense, how many animals do they help foster because being no kill comes with much work, expense and
responsibility. Let’s put our money and our time where our mouth is. Lots of people can talk- talk is cheap. While you are talking about it- others are out doing it. Keep up the good work at the Animal Shelter. Examine the criticism- if there is any merit in it- make adjustments. If not, file it in file 13. God loves animals. He created them for us and we have the opportunity to love them and care for them. He will take what was meant for the bad and use it for the good.

Its about time someone stands up for the truth about this shelter. Things do need to change and legitimate complaints were brought up. The general public has no idea what is going on out at the shelter. Just the rose colored version being pushed by the “NKN” nutjobs. They will not tell about the dead animals, or the vicious animals, or the myriad of other serious problems going on.

This is very true. The shelter still has a very, very long way to go. This shelter spills NKN out of their mouths, and many believe it. I know for a fact, witnessed with my own eyes, that this shelter is no where near “no kill.” Many others I am sure have witnessed this fact. People don’t see what happens behind closed doors. If they did, they would have flash backs of the old shelter. Now they are just hush hush about what goes on. There is countless missing dogs, missing paperwork, and chaos. There is not one single person running the shelter, there are multitudes of people running the shelter. Everyone has authority and no one is the underdog. The director is a pawn, someone to take the fall when things go wrong. If you call the shelter 5 days in a row with the same question, you will get 5 different answers. When they are caught in lies, they start spitting county and state laws and ordinances, the same exact ones they violate day after day.

I am SO VERY HAPPY that people are starting to wake up to who and what is truly behind this "No Kill" agenda. Think "dog breeding". Keep spreading the word to the TRUE HUMANE ANIMAL WELFARE community to boot these "agendists" out of our animal controls and humane societies. They are attempting to get their people IN the door so they can change and re-write the animal ordinances to favor the dog breeders.

And, true to form, here is their "leader" himself, via his website, attempting to sway people into believing that Allegany County Animal Control is sooooooo successful with the "No Kill" program – lol. http://www.nathanwinograd.com/index.php?s=Ingrid+Newkirk&x=9&y=7
