Property Damage Being Investigated
Cumberland City Police Department is currently investigating the destruction of property to numerous vehicles in the Greene Street, Washington Street, and Fayette Street areas of the city. Officers started receiving calls at approx. 0400hrs, for tires slashed on vehicles.

On Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to the area of Park Street and Baltimore Street to assist the Cumberland Fire Department Ambulance Crew with a combative patient.
 
Prisoner Concerns Unfounded
Since its opening in January of 2003, the North Branch Correctional Institution (NBCI) has had some in the community concerned about prisoners and their families remaining in the area upon release.



 
Lack of Experience In Mayor Candidates Concerns Veteran Council Member
There are a total of three candidates vying for the office of mayor in Cumberland this fall- and a lack of experience is a concern for at least one veteran member of council.

City man arrested on child sex charges
On Tuesday evening investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) arrested 67 year old Robert Lee Riggleman, Sr., after obtaining a warrant charging him with Sexual Abuse of a Minor, 3rd Degree Sex Offense, Sexual Solicitation of a Minor, 2nd Degree Assault, and Child Abuse.

Immigration Law In Frederick Co. Rejected
The Frederick County Commissioners have rejected a proposal to establish an Arizona-style immigration law in Maryland. Board members voted 3-2 Tuesday not to include the measure in a package of proposals they will send to the county's state legislative delegation to Board president Jan Gardner, a Democrat, opposed the measure, saying individual states should not try to reform federal immigration law.



 
Security Personnel On The Downtown Mall
The Cumberland Mayor and City Council appear to have some measures ready to be put into place that will address the issue of homeless people camping overnight in the down town area- however dealing with panhandlers might prove more challenging.
